Kenya begins preparations for hosting the prestigious Transform Africa Summit 2024, set to take place in August this year. The announcement comes after the country won the bid to host the summit, convened by the Smart Africa Alliance, underscoring Kenya’s pivotal role in the ICT sector on the continent. The summit is expected to draw over 5,000 delegates from Africa and beyond to deliberate on fostering innovation, collaboration, and sustainable development across the African continent.
The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) kick-started preparations with a soft launch, gathering stakeholders from the tech and communications industries to outline expectations and the significance of the summit for the country. Graced by ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo, the event reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering innovations within Kenya and leveraging the summit to unlock more opportunities for its citizens. Hosting this summit presents a challenge and an opportunity for Kenya to showcase its capabilities and chart a path for future innovations.
Mary Mungai, CBS, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Communications Authority of Kenya, highlighted the importance of leveraging the summit as a critical forum for collaboration among regulators and policymakers across Africa. The summit serves as a platform to align ambitions and drive continental progress in the ICT sector. CA Director-General Mr. David Mogonyi expressed enthusiasm about putting Kenya on the global map through this event, emphasizing its role in fostering innovation and advancing the country’s technological landscape. With the Transform Africa Summit 2024 slated to be held at the KICC from 28th to 30th August, Kenya anticipates an exciting period ahead as it gears up to host regional regulators, policymakers, and global experts.
