Microsoft has unveiled Microsoft Frontier Company, a new operating business backed by a $2.5 billion investment to accelerate enterprise AI adoption and help organizations achieve measurable business outcomes through large-scale AI transformation. As part of the initiative, Microsoft will embed 6,000 industry specialists and AI engineers within customer organizations to co-design, deploy and continuously optimize AI systems. The move reflects Microsoft’s growing focus on helping enterprises move beyond AI experimentation to real-world business transformation powered by secure, scalable and outcome-driven solutions.
The new business introduces what Microsoft describes as “Frontier Transformation,” combining enterprise AI engineering, deep industry expertise, change management and continuous optimization to support organizations throughout their AI journey. According to the company, Microsoft Frontier Company will help enterprises build intelligent AI platforms that integrate proprietary data, business knowledge, workflows and decision-making processes while maintaining strong governance, security and cost management. Customers will also be able to build AI solutions using the models that best suit their needs while retaining full control over their intellectual property and enterprise data.
Microsoft also reaffirmed its commitment to trusted and flexible AI adoption. The company stated that customer data and intellectual property will not be used to train AI models in ways that compromise competitive advantage. In addition, its model-agnostic AI strategy enables organizations to choose from leading AI providers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft AI, open-source models and industry-specific solutions, giving enterprises greater flexibility without being tied to a single vendor.
The company highlighted several early enterprise deployments already supported through the initiative, including projects with London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), Land O’Lakes, Unilever and Novo Nordisk. At LSEG, AI capabilities have been integrated into LSEG Workspace, enabling financial professionals to analyze structured and unstructured financial data more efficiently while continuously improving performance through user feedback. Microsoft will also expand the initiative globally by working closely with systems integration partners including Accenture, Capgemini, EY, KPMG and PwC to help organizations deploy AI solutions across industries.
To lead the new business, Microsoft has appointed Rodrigo Kede Lima as President of Microsoft Frontier Company. Bringing more than three decades of technology leadership experience, Kede Lima will oversee efforts to help enterprises convert AI innovation into measurable business value and maximize returns on AI investments. With significant financial backing, global partnerships and a strong focus on governance, security and enterprise transformation, Microsoft is positioning Frontier Company as a cornerstone of its strategy to help organizations build the next generation of AI-powered businesses.
