Oracle has officially gone live with its Casablanca cloud region, marking a significant milestone as the first hyperscaler to operate a full public cloud region in North Africa. The deployment, delivered in partnership with N+ONE Datacentres, provides organisations in Morocco with direct local access to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for computing, analytics, and artificial intelligence workloads.
This development introduces in-country cloud infrastructure for businesses that have traditionally depended on European cloud regions for hosting and processing services. By localising infrastructure, Oracle is helping reduce dependency on cross-border data access while strengthening digital sovereignty across the region.
The Casablanca region is expected to significantly improve data residency compliance, particularly for regulated industries such as finance, government, and other public sector institutions. Keeping data within national borders simplifies regulatory adherence and reduces the complexity and risk associated with international data transfers.
In addition, the local cloud presence enhances application performance by reducing latency for users in Morocco and the wider Maghreb region. This improvement is especially critical for real-time services, digital platforms, and enterprise applications that rely on high-speed, low-latency infrastructure.
The launch aligns with Morocco’s “Digital Morocco 2030” strategy aimed at expanding national digital infrastructure and attracting global technology investment. It also strengthens Oracle’s growing footprint in Africa, alongside existing and planned cloud regions in Johannesburg and Nairobi, further reinforcing the continent’s role in the global cloud and digital economy.
