Paratus Group has taken a major step in transforming East Africa’s connectivity landscape through its strategic expansion across Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, and Tanzania. This move goes beyond the installation of fiber cables—it represents a deliberate effort to link communities, businesses, and entire economies to reliable, high-speed internet services that are essential in today’s digital-driven world.
The expansion integrates terrestrial fiber networks with Starlink satellite services, creating a hybrid infrastructure that ensures both speed and resilience. In Kenya, Paratus operates as a licensed ISP and authorized Starlink reseller since November 2024, while Rwanda now benefits from both ISP and Starlink services. In Uganda and Tanzania, the company is delivering nationwide internet access for enterprises and wholesale customers, ensuring that no market is left behind.
A cornerstone of this expansion is the Paratus East-West fiber route, which stretches from Maputo to Swakopmund and connects directly to the Equiano subsea cable. This backbone not only enhances regional connectivity but also strengthens links between East Africa and global networks. By combining regional reach with international access, Paratus is positioning East Africa as a hub for digital growth and global trade integration.
As Martin Cox, Chief Commercial Officer of Paratus Group, emphasized, “You can’t trade if you can’t connect.” His words capture the essence of this initiative: connectivity is not just a service, but an enabler of commerce, governance, education, and everyday living. For regions long underserved by traditional infrastructure, Paratus’ model offers a chance to bridge persistent gaps in digital inclusion.
The expansion also signals a broader regional shift where connectivity is increasingly being recognized as a driver of economic growth. From startups and e-commerce platforms to remote-working teams, the demand for networks that deliver more than just basic browsing is growing rapidly. By merging fiber and satellite solutions, Paratus provides both urban centers and remote towns with access to fast, dependable internet, enabling new levels of productivity and resilience.
Ultimately, the East Africa expansion reflects Paratus’ belief that digital infrastructure is a lifeline, not a luxury. By investing in robust connectivity solutions across multiple markets, the company is setting the stage for long-term transformation. As borders, distance, and outdated infrastructure become less of a barrier, East Africa is poised to enter a new era of digital opportunity and economic growth.
