Kenya and Canada are working to enhance their bilateral trade and investment relations, aiming to bolster economic ties between the two nations.
Trade and Investment Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano emphasized Kenya’s commitment to fostering a conducive business environment through partnerships with the private sector. Despite being a significant trade partner, with Kenya exporting $18.71 million worth of goods to Canada in 2022, efforts are underway to elevate the trade volume, especially considering the recent decline in imports from Canada.
In her remarks at the second Canada-Africa business forum, Miano highlighted Kenya’s strategic position as the gateway to Africa, underscoring the importance of Nairobi as the forum’s venue.
The event focuses on key sectors such as renewable energy, agriculture, technology, healthcare, and infrastructure development, reflecting the diverse opportunities for collaboration between Canada and African countries.
Through negotiations for expanded market access and various agreements, both nations aim to leverage their strengths to foster mutually beneficial trade relationships and drive economic growth.
