SMART Zambia Institute has showcased its progress in digital transformation at the Africa Public Service Day 2026 judging session, highlighting how Zambia is increasingly embedding data-driven governance into national planning and public service delivery. The presentation underscored a broader shift toward modern, technology-enabled public institutions.

A central highlight was the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (ZNSDI) platform, which enables the collection, sharing, and application of geospatial data to support evidence-based decision-making. The system is already being applied across key sectors such as infrastructure development, water resource management, sanitation, disaster preparedness, and environmental sustainability.

The initiative is strengthening coordination between government agencies, the private sector, and development partners, while also improving efficiency in public service delivery. Through integrated digital systems, SMART Zambia is working to bring services closer to citizens while enhancing transparency and institutional collaboration.

Complementing this is the National Spatial Policy, which provides a structured framework for integrating spatial data into long-term national planning and development processes. Together, the policy and ZNSDI platform are helping to standardize how geospatial intelligence informs governance decisions across sectors.

By leveraging digital infrastructure and geospatial intelligence, Zambia is positioning itself toward more accurate planning, improved service delivery, and sustainable development outcomes. The presentation reflects a growing national commitment to using technology as a foundation for modern governance and long-term development impact.
