Paratus Group has made history by launching Namibia’s first private mobile network, introducing LTE and 5G technologies as part of its 20th anniversary in the country. This milestone positions Paratus as a formidable challenger to state-owned operators that have traditionally dominated the Namibian telecoms market. It also reflects the company’s consistent commitment to innovation and investment in connectivity solutions that drive both digital inclusion and economic growth.
Since 2018, Paratus has invested approximately \$80.1 million (N\$1.417 billion) into Namibia’s digital infrastructure. This includes the development of extensive fiber networks, advanced satellite services, world-class data centers, and the landing of the Equiano subsea cable. In the last year alone, the company dedicated an additional \$33.9 million (N\$600 million) towards building its mobile network, with a third of this investment going into a state-of-the-art digital technology stack.
Developed in partnership with Cerillion and Nokia, this digital stack integrates all Paratus services into a single platform, enabling customers to seamlessly manage voice, data, and enterprise solutions. With this foundation, Paratus aims to set new benchmarks for customer experience, transparency, and service efficiency in Namibia. The network will deliver affordable voice and data packages alongside advanced services such as Voice over LTE (VoLTE), Wi-Fi calling, and digital activation.
This new mobile service is designed to complement Paratus’s broader ecosystem of connectivity, which already includes fiber, wireless Sky-Fi, and integrated enterprise solutions. By combining these offerings, Paratus is positioning itself as a one-stop provider for both individuals and businesses seeking secure and scalable connectivity options. The move underscores the company’s mission to transform Namibia into a hub of digital opportunity while supporting wider continental ambitions.
Operating across 15 African markets, Paratus has built what it describes as Africa’s only fully contiguous network, providing seamless and secure cross-border connectivity.
