iSchool strengthens its AI education ambitions through Rubikal acquisition
iSchool has acquired software engineering firm Rubikal in a strategic move aimed at deepening its transition from a coding education provider into a full-stack, AI-driven learning platform. The acquisition marks a key milestone in the company’s long-term vision to integrate artificial intelligence into the core of digital education delivery.

The deal brings Rubikal’s founding team and 21 engineers into iSchool, significantly boosting its in-house technical capacity. This integration is expected to enhance the company’s ability to design, build, and scale advanced AI-powered education systems while reducing reliance on external development partners. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Founded in 2018, iSchool delivers live, gamified coding classes for K-12 learners across more than 20 countries, with a growing shift toward institutional partnerships. Rubikal, established in 2016, specializes in real-time, fault-tolerant web applications and has already collaborated with iSchool for several years, contributing to the development of its learning platform.

The acquisition reflects a broader strategic push by iSchool to own its core technology infrastructure as competition intensifies in the global edtech space. With more education providers embedding AI into learning experiences, control over underlying systems is becoming a key differentiator in speed, innovation, and scalability.

By internalizing engineering capabilities, iSchool aims to accelerate product development and deliver more integrated, scalable AI-based learning solutions for schools and institutions. The move positions the company to respond faster to evolving education needs while strengthening its role in shaping the future of AI-enabled learning.
