CAMTEL has begun discussions with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to explore collaboration opportunities that could accelerate Cameroon’s digital transformation through advanced technologies and digital infrastructure.
The state-owned telecommunications operator recently hosted a high-level AWS Africa delegation, represented by Raya Nassar and Terrence Naidoo, for a working session focused on identifying potential areas of cooperation. The meeting was also attended by Antoinette Manyaga, representing the ICT services of the U.S. Embassy, highlighting the strategic importance of the engagement.
Discussions focused on emerging technologies that could support Cameroon’s digital agenda, including satellite connectivity, cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI). The two organizations explored how these technologies could strengthen digital infrastructure, improve service delivery and support the country’s growing digital economy.
According to CAMTEL, the engagement represents an important first step toward identifying areas where collaboration with AWS could drive innovation across the telecommunications sector. The initiative is expected to support the deployment of advanced digital solutions while enhancing the customer experience through modern technologies.
If the partnership progresses, it could expand access to cloud services, AI-powered applications and satellite-enabled connectivity, reinforcing Cameroon’s broader efforts to modernize its digital infrastructure and strengthen its position within Africa’s evolving digital landscape.
