Airtel Africa has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Seychelles’ digital transformation through continued investment in network infrastructure, innovation and customer-focused services.

The commitment was reiterated by Airtel Africa Chief Executive Officer Sunil Taldar during a strategic visit to Seychelles alongside Anwar Soussa, Regional Director for Francophone Africa. During the visit, Taldar met Vice-President Sebastien Pillay, government officials, customers, business partners and employees to discuss connectivity needs and opportunities to strengthen the country’s digital ecosystem.

Discussions with Vice-President Pillay focused on promoting competition, improving the affordability of home internet services and encouraging infrastructure sharing to reduce costs. The leaders also discussed the role of digital financial services in expanding financial inclusion.

Pillay welcomed Airtel Seychelles’ infrastructure investments and its recent 5G rollout, noting their contribution to national connectivity and economic growth. Taldar thanked the government for its support during the network launch.

Taldar said Airtel remained committed to introducing innovative products and services aligned with the government’s digital agenda while responding to the changing needs of consumers and businesses.

He also highlighted the importance of collaboration and supportive policies in sustaining telecommunications investment, particularly in island markets where maintaining reliable network infrastructure can be costly.

During the visit, Taldar toured Airtel Seychelles’ operational facilities and met employees at a town hall meeting. He recognised the local team’s achievements and emphasised customer experience, innovation and sustainable growth.

Describing Seychelles as a strategically important market for Airtel Africa, Taldar reiterated the group’s commitment to expanding digital access, strengthening infrastructure and delivering long-term value. The visit underscored the company’s intention to support Seychelles’ digital development through continued investment and collaboration.
