FiveNines Group has partnered with Nexus Core Systems to oversee the development of a 20MW data centre on the outskirts of Casablanca, Morocco, designed to support high-density artificial intelligence computing.
The facility will use the latest available semiconductors and Nvidia’s Vera Rubin NVL72 Cloud Partner Reference architecture. It will form part of the wider Nexus AI Factory Platform, an initiative by Nexus Core Systems and its international partners to develop advanced infrastructure dedicated to artificial intelligence.
FiveNines Group has been appointed to lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for design management, technical governance, consultant coordination, constructability and procurement strategy. Its initial responsibilities will cover project briefing, feasibility, design strategy and concept design, with the aim of preparing a coordinated design package for regulatory engagement and permit submission.
Gerry Curran, CEO of FiveNines Group, said the project would combine the company’s international data centre expertise with the capabilities of Moroccan architects, engineers, technical advisers and relevant authorities.
Nexus Core Systems’ Head of Infrastructure, Bastian Remmlinger, also welcomed the collaboration, noting that FiveNines Group had supported the development of the project’s design and delivery approach.
The project team will work with lead design consultant Zutari, specialist mechanical, electrical and plumbing consultant R&B MEP, and substation delivery partner Fonto Energy.
The 20MW facility is part of the broader Nexus AI Factory Platform, which has a target capacity of 180MW and is intended to operate entirely on renewable energy. The platform was announced in April 2026 at GITEX Africa Morocco in Marrakesh, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Moroccan authorities.
The development aligns with Morocco’s ambition to establish itself as a regional centre for artificial intelligence. Investment in specialised computing infrastructure is becoming increasingly important as demand grows for the processing capacity needed to develop and run advanced AI systems.
FiveNines Group, headquartered in the United Kingdom, is active across several international markets, including northern and central Europe. The company recently announced the completion of a 9.6MW data centre for a hyperscale client in Austria.
The Morocco project adds to its portfolio of mission-critical infrastructure work, bringing together international technical expertise and local partners to support the development of AI infrastructure in North Africa.
