MTN Digital Infrastructure, the parent company of Bayobab, has announced the appointment of Ronsley Kubie as General Manager: Satellite Business and Partnerships, effective 1 July 2026. The appointment marks another strategic step in the company’s efforts to strengthen its leadership team as it continues expanding Africa’s digital infrastructure and satellite connectivity capabilities. Ronsley Kubie joins the organization with extensive experience spanning the entire telecommunications value chain, including satellite communications, wireless technologies, enterprise connectivity, and national-scale network infrastructure. His career covers both African and international markets, providing him with a broad understanding of the opportunities and challenges shaping the continent’s connectivity landscape. Most recently, he served as Africa Head of Sales at AXESS Networks/Hispasat, where he led regional commercial strategy and drove the adoption of multi-orbit satellite solutions across industries such as internet service providers, mobile network operators, mining, and enterprise customers.
Before joining AXESS Networks/Hispasat, Kubie spent eight years at Intelsat, progressing to the role of Senior Sales Director for Africa, where he managed strategic relationships with telecommunications operators across the continent. His professional journey also includes leadership and technical roles at Vodacom, Verizon, Sentech, Stratosat, and Telkom South Africa, giving him decades of experience in network infrastructure, commercial strategy, and connectivity solutions. Complementing this experience is a strong academic background, holding a Bachelor of Commerce in Informatics from UNISA, a Programme in Engineering Management from the University of Pretoria, and a National Diploma in Electronics Engineering from Central Johannesburg College.
