Nokia has announced a strategic partnership with iSAT Africa to enhance rural connectivity in Liberia, aiming to bridge the digital divide and provide reliable, affordable network access to underserved communities. This significant deployment will span three years and cover approximately 200 sites across rural Liberia, underscoring Nokia’s commitment to improving connectivity in remote areas.

The initiative will deploy Nokia’s Rural Connect solution, which includes its AirScale radio portfolio, Massive MIMO radios, remote radio heads, and base stations. This advanced technology is designed to extend network coverage beyond major cities, addressing critical challenges such as limited connectivity and the digital divide in rural regions.

iSAT Africa, an integrated communications services provider specializing in broadcasting, rural connectivity, and satellite solutions, will benefit from Nokia’s MantaRay Network Management solutions. This will provide a unified, automated view of the network, enhancing monitoring and management capabilities to support efficient network operations in challenging environments.

Nokia stated that the expansion of iSAT Africa’s network reach will offer mobile network operators a cost-effective and efficient solution. This deployment aims to improve access to essential services for rural communities, driving socio-economic progress and contributing to the development of Liberia’s remote areas.

Osama Said, Customer Team Head for West Africa and Enterprise at Nokia, emphasized that this partnership is a major step toward reducing the digital divide and fostering socio-economic development in Liberia. The deployment is expected to make a significant impact on improving connectivity and access to digital services in rural communities.

Rakesh Kukreja, Founder and Managing Director at iSAT Africa, highlighted that this deployment will reinforce his company’s role in providing Network as a Service. He noted that it will enhance the availability of reliable voice and data services, helping to connect the unconnected and improve lives in Liberia’s rural areas.
