Mawingu, a leading rural Internet Service Provider (ISP), has expanded its network to Bondo in Siaya County, reaching a total of 29 counties across Kenya. This expansion represents a significant milestone in the company’s mission to enhance connectivity throughout the country.

Mawingu’s CEO, Farouk Ramji, expressed that this move is a key step towards their long-term vision of making meaningful Internet access available to more Kenyans. The company is dedicated to connecting underserved towns and urban centers that have been overlooked by other providers.

With over 19,000 active customers, Mawingu is committed to addressing the connectivity needs of areas that face high capital costs and logistical challenges. The company aims to offer reliable and affordable Internet services by building sustainable infrastructure in these neglected regions.

To further enhance network access and improve Internet quality, Mawingu plans to lay out 50 kilometers of fiber in its existing markets. The company provides a range of shared Internet packages for homes and small businesses, as well as dedicated connections for large enterprises.

Mawingu’s network infrastructure includes 175 towers, which are linked to dedicated fiber trunks, enabling efficient and high-capacity transmission. The use of wireless, fiber, and green-energy technology allows Mawingu to adapt to varying terrain and market conditions.

Rebranded last year, Mawingu aims to connect 250,000 Kenyans within the next five years. The company remains focused on accelerating its growth strategy and expanding connectivity to additional counties across Kenya in the coming year.
