Meta has announced the launch of two new monetization features for eligible creators in Kenya: In-Stream Ads on Facebook and Facebook Ads on Reels. These features are designed to help creators earn revenue by producing original video content and building their communities on the platform.
In-Stream Ads will provide creators with opportunities to generate income through ads placed before, during, or after their videos. This includes Pre-roll Ads (which appear before the video starts), Mid-roll Ads (which play during the video), Image Ads (static images displayed beneath the video), and Post-roll Ads (ads that appear at the end of the video). This versatile ad placement offers multiple revenue streams for content creators.
Additionally, Facebook Ads on Reels will integrate ads directly into original Reels content. This integration allows creators to earn based on the performance of their Reels while continuing to engage and entertain their audience. This new feature aims to enhance the monetization potential of short-form video content.
Moon Baz, Global Partnerships Lead for Africa, Middle East, and Turkey (AMET) at Meta, highlighted the significance of this rollout, stating that the expansion will empower Kenyan creators and set a high standard for creativity worldwide. Meta’s goal is to make its family of apps the go-to platform for all creators by providing robust monetization options.
To be eligible for these monetization features, creators must comply with Facebook’s Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies and be at least 18 years old. Specifically for In-Stream Ads, creators must have a minimum of 5,000 followers to qualify.
Meta’s new monetization tools will support creators in over 30 languages globally, including Swahili, reinforcing the company’s commitment to fostering creativity and providing financial opportunities for creators around the world.
