Globeleq, a UK-based private power firm, is investing Sh4.6 billion to install battery storage for its Malindi solar plant, enhancing electricity supply during peak demand.
Approved by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), this move aligns with Kenya’s efforts to maximize renewable energy potential and reduce reliance on #thermal plants.
With solar contributing 3% of Kenya’s electricity production, battery storage promises increased flexibility and grid reliability, supporting the country’s sustainable energy goals.
