Burundi and Zambia have entered into a groundbreaking agreement to connect both countries through an underwater fibre optic cable, marking a significant milestone in regional connectivity. This agreement was formalized at the recently concluded Digital Government Africa Summit held in Lusaka, Zambia, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in enhancing digital infrastructure across Africa. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) sets the stage for the cable to be submerged in Lake Tanganyika, establishing a vital link between Zambia’s Northern province and Burundi’s southernmost province of Makamba.

Epson, the global technology company, has announced the establishment of a new sales company aimed at serving the Middle East, Turkey, Africa, and Central & West Asia (META-CWA) region. With its headquarters in Dubai, UAE, the regional operations will be led by President Neil Colquhoun, who aims to transform how technology can be utilized by consumers and businesses across the diverse region. Colquhoun emphasizes the vast potential in META-CWA, inspired by the significant growth observed in recent years.

The recent Unstoppable Africa summit concluded with a strong commitment from leaders and stakeholders across the continent to foster inclusive participation and innovative solutions in addressing pressing challenges. Held from September 25-26 alongside the UN General Assembly, the summit brought together over 2,000 leaders, CEOs, investors, policymakers, and innovators under the theme “Unstoppable Africa: Shaping Global Ambitions for Agenda 2063.” The event focused on positioning Africa as a global leader through discussions on unlocking inclusive trade growth, clean energy, digital advancements, and the global impact of African creativity and sports.
