Airtel Africa Foundation Offers Full Fellowships to 20 Ugandan Students Pursuing Technology Degrees
The Airtel Africa Foundation is offering full fellowships to 20 exceptional first-year undergraduate students in Uganda, providing financial support for young people pursuing careers in technology and innovation.
The fellowship covers tuition, accommodation and academic materials, as well as a fixed stipend to support core course expenses throughout the programme.
The initiative is open to Ugandan nationals admitted as first-year undergraduate students for the 2026/2027 academic year at participating universities. Applicants must be entering first year for the first time, while students repeating first year or transferring from another programme are not eligible.
Eligible students must meet their university’s minimum admission requirements, including obtaining at least two principal passes at Uganda Certificate of Education (UACE) level in one sitting. Candidates must also demonstrate the potential to succeed in their selected programme.
The fellowship is targeted at students from financially constrained backgrounds. Applicants are required to demonstrate financial need and cannot hold another scholarship, including a Government of Uganda Scholarship.
The programme supports students pursuing technology-focused disciplines such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
Participating institutions include Makerere University, ISBAT University, Uganda Christian University, Mbarara University of Science & Technology and Kyambogo University.
Through the fellowship, the Airtel Africa Foundation is seeking to expand access to higher education while supporting young Ugandans in developing skills aligned with the country’s growing technology and digital economy.
The initiative also contributes to building a stronger pipeline of technology professionals capable of supporting innovation, digital transformation and economic development across Uganda.
