Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Cameroon’s digital transformation, identifying interoperability, digital identity and secure data exchange as key pillars of the country’s emerging digital public infrastructure.
The commitment was made during the Internet Governance Forum of Cameroon (FGI Cameroon 2026), which concluded on August 20 following three days of discussions on digital transformation and internet governance.
During a closing roundtable on developing a national roadmap for inclusive governance of digital public infrastructure, CAMTEL Director General Judith Yah Sunday épse Achidi outlined four key areas of focus: interoperability, national benchmarks, digital identity and data exchange platforms.
CAMTEL said these areas will help create a more connected and integrated digital public ecosystem, enabling government systems to securely exchange information and support more efficient digital service delivery.
The operator also highlighted national connectivity, resilient infrastructure, secure hosting, skills development and continuous innovation as important requirements for building a trusted digital environment.
The commitment comes as Cameroon works to reduce fragmentation across public digital platforms and strengthen digital sovereignty. CAMTEL said it will continue working with government and other stakeholders to develop infrastructure capable of supporting secure interoperability and data exchange.
