Safaricom Ethiopia Telecommunications PLC has celebrated Chief Executive Officer Wim Vanhelleputte’s 25-year milestone in executive leadership within the telecommunications industry.
The company recognised Vanhelleputte’s extensive experience leading telecommunications businesses across Africa, highlighting his role in navigating industry changes and supporting the development of mobile services, smartphones, mobile money and broader digital ecosystems.
Vanhelleputte joined Safaricom Ethiopia as CEO in September 2023. He has since been leading the company’s ambition to expand digital access and transform lives through technology in Ethiopia.
Safaricom Ethiopia said his experience across multiple markets brings valuable industry knowledge as the company works to strengthen connectivity, drive innovation and expand digital services for Ethiopians.
The milestone reflects Vanhelleputte’s long-standing involvement in a telecommunications sector that has undergone significant transformation over the past two decades, particularly in mobile connectivity and digital financial services.
