MTN South Sudan has officially launched the Aweil ICT Hub, expanding access to digital skills, innovation and educational opportunities for young people and communities in South Sudan.
The ICT Hub was unveiled during a ceremony attended by government officials, education sector representatives, community leaders, youth groups, development partners and members of the media.
Designed as a centre for learning, collaboration and innovation, the facility will provide access to digital skills training, scholarships and educational opportunities aimed at supporting youth development and entrepreneurship.
MTN South Sudan CEO Mapula Bodibe said meaningful participation in the digital world requires more than connectivity, highlighting the importance of knowledge, skills, confidence and opportunities for people to learn and grow.
The launch was welcomed by Gabriel Deng Yei, the Information and Communication Minister for Northern Bahr El Ghazal State, who said access to digital skills and technology is increasingly important for education, entrepreneurship and economic development.
The Aweil ICT Hub aims to help bridge the digital skills gap by providing students, entrepreneurs and community members with resources that support learning, creativity and problem-solving.
The initiative forms part of MTN South Sudan’s broader efforts to promote digital inclusion and equip communities to participate more meaningfully in the digital economy.
MTN South Sudan said the establishment of the facility was supported through collaboration with the Government of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, educational institutions, local stakeholders and community leaders.
By investing in digital education and innovation, the company aims to support the development of digitally empowered communities and contribute to South Sudan’s long-term socio-economic growth.
