The Airtel Africa Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering Africa’s next generation with the digital skills needed to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven world, highlighting its programmes in Tanzania and Nigeria as part of its World Youth Skills Day celebrations.
The foundation noted that rapid technological advancement is transforming workplaces across every sector, making access to digital skills, mentorship and career development opportunities essential for young people seeking to participate in Africa’s growing digital economy.
In Tanzania, the foundation is supporting the Fursa Lab programme, which provides practical training in emerging technologies such as coding, robotics and mobile application development. The initiative is designed to strengthen digital capabilities while encouraging innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship among young people.
In Nigeria, the foundation continues to invest in DigiLeap, a programme dedicated to preparing young women for careers in technology. Through industry-relevant digital skills training, mentorship, leadership development and exposure to real-world career opportunities, DigiLeap helps participants build the confidence and expertise needed to succeed in the technology sector.
According to the Airtel Africa Foundation, these initiatives go beyond technical education by equipping participants with practical experience, professional networks and the confidence to pursue long-term careers in the digital economy. As it marked World Youth Skills Day, the foundation reaffirmed its commitment to closing the digital skills gap and creating more opportunities for young Africans to innovate, compete and contribute to Africa’s digital transformation.
