Paratus Group through its subsidiary Paratus Namibia has reached a major milestone with the launch of Namibia’s first private LTE and 5G mobile network. The achievement marks a significant step in the country’s telecommunications evolution and reinforces the group’s long-term commitment to building resilient, future-ready digital infrastructure across Africa.

The rollout involved a major infrastructure transformation project, including the development of a telecom-grade data centre designed to host critical power, cooling, and network systems. Paratus Namibia also deployed indoor and outdoor DC power systems to support radio infrastructure, ensuring the foundation for a stable and scalable mobile network capable of supporting next-generation connectivity services.

To meet complex deployment requirements, the project addressed several operational challenges such as limited physical space, strict launch timelines, and the need for highly reliable redundancy in both power and cooling systems. The execution required modular and scalable UPS capacity, alongside carefully engineered systems to ensure uninterrupted performance across the network’s core infrastructure.

The implementation was strengthened through collaboration with local partner ISF and technology support from Vertiv, integrating advanced systems including cooling solutions, lithium-ion UPS technology, monitored rack power distribution, and converged AC/DC power systems. A critical success factor was the accelerated deployment of temporary battery systems, enabling the network to launch on schedule while permanent infrastructure components were still in transit.

The newly operational network delivers a full suite of connectivity services including VoLTE, LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi calling, fibre, and Sky-Fi wireless solutions, supported by N+N redundancy and real-time monitoring systems. This infrastructure is designed to minimize downtime, enhance service reliability, and support long-term scalability, positioning Paratus Namibia as a key driver of digital transformation in the country.
