MTN Uganda has strengthened its commitment to digital financial inclusion by rewarding two parents in Mbale who consistently used its mobile money ecosystem to pay school fees. The initiative forms part of an ongoing campaign encouraging the adoption of cashless school fee payments through the MoMo platform.
Through the MoMo service, every school fee transaction is automatically entered into a promotion that gives parents a chance to win full-year school fee coverage, while participating schools also stand an opportunity to receive a school van. The campaign is designed to promote convenience, transparency, and increased use of digital payments in education.
MTN Uganda officials, during a visit to Mbale, emphasized the importance of embracing MoMo as a reliable tool for managing education expenses. The company highlighted that the platform not only simplifies payments but also integrates incentives that directly support families dealing with rising education costs.
In addition to the promotional rewards, MTN Uganda introduced enhanced financial support solutions through MoMo, including school fees loans accessible directly on the platform. These loans allow parents to pay for up to four children per day, with funding ranging between UGX 200,000 and UGX 3.5 million, helping bridge short-term financial gaps and ensure uninterrupted schooling.
Beneficiaries of the initiative, including one parent from Mbale whose award covers three academic terms, shared how the support significantly eases household financial pressure. MTN Uganda continues to encourage customers to make payments via the MoMo App or USSD code 16580#, reinforcing its drive toward a more inclusive and digitally enabled education payment ecosystem.
