Kenyan technology training and talent development organization AkiraChix has expanded its footprint into Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Eswatini, marking a significant step in its regional growth strategy. The expansion aims to widen access to digital skills and career opportunities for young women across Southern Africa, reinforcing AkiraChix’s commitment to bridging the gender gap in technology.

The organization equips women with practical skills in software development, product design, and entrepreneurship, preparing them to thrive in Africa’s rapidly evolving digital economy. By entering new markets, AkiraChix will reach a broader pool of learners, fostering cross-border collaboration and strengthening the continent’s interconnected tech ecosystem.

AkiraChix’s expansion is supported by strategic funding, including $1 million from the Steele Foundation for Hope through its codeHive program. This investment enables the organization to build the best female tech talent in Africa and provide underserved communities with opportunities to overcome long-standing barriers through education and skills development.

The initiative also focuses on partnerships with local institutions, industry players, and community stakeholders to deliver tailored training programs that align with each country’s technology landscape. As demand for software engineers, designers, and digital professionals continues to outpace supply, AkiraChix’s efforts are critical in addressing the skills gap while promoting inclusive participation in the tech sector.

Through its regional expansion, AkiraChix strengthens its ongoing programs in mentorship, community-driven learning, and workforce development. The organization’s presence in Southern Africa positions it to contribute meaningfully to the continent’s broader digital transformation agenda while empowering a new generation of female tech leaders.
