Orange Group has announced a strategic leadership transition that underscores its commitment to accelerating growth across the Middle East and Africa (MEA). Yasser Shaker, the current CEO of Orange Egypt, will assume the role of Executive Vice President and CEO of Orange MEA effective 1 July 2025. This appointment reflects the Group’s confidence in Shaker’s proven leadership and regional expertise to lead one of its most dynamic markets.
Yasser Shaker brings more than 25 years of experience in telecommunications and technology. Since 2018, he has led Orange Egypt through a period of record growth, navigating economic challenges while focusing on digital transformation, customer experience, and operational efficiency. His prior experience as Chief Technology and Information Officer for Orange MEA provides him with deep insight into the region’s strategic and operational landscape.
He will succeed Jérôme Hénique, who has been appointed CEO of Orange France effective 1 June 2025. Hénique will also join the Board of Directors of Orange MEA and continue to serve on the Group Executive Committee. This transition comes as Jean-François Fallacher departs Orange to lead the Eutelsat Group, after a successful tenure marked by major strategic achievements in the French market.
Group CEO Christel Heydemann praised both appointments, citing Hénique’s successful leadership of MEA operations and Shaker’s exceptional track record in Egypt. She expressed full confidence in their ability to drive continued growth and transformation across their respective regions as part of Orange’s broader “Lead the Future” strategic plan.
Jérôme Hénique’s legacy in the MEA region includes expanding operations to 18 countries and serving over 135 million customers. Under his leadership, Orange MEA achieved double-digit revenue and EBITDAaL growth, solidifying its role as a key driver of the Group’s global performance. His successor, Yasser Shaker, is expected to build upon this strong foundation with a renewed focus on innovation, digital inclusion, and market expansion.
Orange Group’s leadership reshuffle is more than a personnel shift—it is a clear signal of the Group’s long-term vision and ambition in global telecom. With revenues of €40.3 billion in 2024 and nearly 300 million customers worldwide, Orange is poised to scale further under the guidance of visionary leaders committed to responsible growth and excellence in service delivery.
