Airtel Nigeria Names Dinesh Balsingh New CEO

Airtel Nigeria has announced the appointment of Dinesh Balsingh as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, effective November 1, 2024. This marks a significant leadership transition as Balsingh takes over from Carl Cruz, who has resigned to return to the Philippines. Balsingh brings a wealth of experience and a strong track record in the telecommunications industry, making him a valuable addition to Airtel Nigeria’s leadership team.

Balsingh’s journey with Airtel Nigeria began in 2013 when he joined as Marketing Director, leveraging leadership experience from Airtel India and Tata Docomo. Over the years, he has held pivotal roles, including Chief Commercial Officer at Airtel Nigeria and most recently, Managing Director and CEO of Airtel Tanzania. His deep understanding of the Nigerian telecommunications market positions him well to lead the company into its next phase of growth.

Airtel Africa CEO, Sunil Taldar, expressed confidence in Balsingh’s ability to steer Airtel Nigeria towards achieving its mission of transforming lives. Taldar emphasized that Balsingh’s extensive telecommunications experience, coupled with his strong operational expertise, will be instrumental in driving innovation, growth, and customer satisfaction across the Nigerian market.

Balsingh’s career spans over 24 years in the telecommunications sector, starting in 2000 with Hutchison Essar. His leadership journey has included key roles such as Marketing Director at Airtel India in 2006 and significant contributions to Tata Docomo in 2011. His professional achievements underscore his capacity to deliver results and build strong, customer-focused organizations.

The new CEO holds a Master of Business Administration from Thiagarajar School of Management, equipping him with the academic foundation to complement his extensive industry expertise. His leadership at Airtel Tanzania further demonstrated his ability to drive growth and operational excellence, making his return to Airtel Nigeria highly anticipated.

Under Balsingh’s leadership, Airtel Nigeria aims to strengthen its position in the telecommunications industry, enhance its service offerings, and continue its mission of delivering transformative solutions to its customers.
