Somalia’s Minister of Communications and Technology, H.E. Mohamed Somali, has received the newly appointed UNDP Resident Representative to Somalia, Mr. Christophoros Politis, at the Ministry in Mogadishu.
The meeting provided an opportunity for an introductory engagement and discussions on strengthening cooperation between the Ministry and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Key areas of discussion included digital government services, technology innovation and Somalia’s wider digital transformation agenda. The engagement focused on identifying opportunities for stronger technical cooperation and support aligned with the country’s national communications and technology priorities.
Minister Mohamed Somali highlighted the importance of deepening collaboration with development partners to support Somalia’s digital ambitions and strengthen the capacity of institutions responsible for communications and technology.
Mr. Christophoros Politis reaffirmed UNDP’s commitment to continued partnership with the Federal Government of Somalia. The partnership will include efforts to strengthen government institutions, improve digital services and support the implementation of Somalia’s digital transformation agenda.
The meeting was also attended by the Ministry’s Acting Director General and senior directors, reflecting the importance of coordinated engagement in advancing national technology priorities.
The Ministry of Communications and Technology said it remains committed to working with international partners to strengthen digital infrastructure, expand e-government services and improve access to modern and effective public services for the Somali people.
The engagement comes as Somalia continues efforts to use digital technology to improve public administration, strengthen institutional capacity and support more accessible government services.
