Raxio Group has officially inaugurated its state-of-the-art data center, Raxio Côte d’Ivoire (CIV1), in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. This facility marks the fifth addition to Raxio’s growing portfolio and the third data center launched by the company this year. With Tier III accreditation from the Uptime Institute, Raxio is poised to play a significant role in supporting the digital growth of the country and the broader West African region.
CIV1 stands out as the first Tier III certified carrier-neutral and cloud-neutral data center in Ivory Coast. Its establishment in the rapidly growing francophone West African economy is expected to stimulate data consumption and local content creation among digital users. The facility is equipped with advanced technology capable of housing up to 800 racks at full capacity, delivering an impressive 3MW of IT power to customer equipment.
The launch of Raxio CIV1 also signifies the company’s strategic entry into West Africa, particularly within the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) region. This location allows Raxio to serve a diverse economic block that includes several countries, ensuring compliance with regulations governing data storage and movement for the banking and financial sectors.
Robert Mullins, CEO of Raxio Group, stated that the inauguration of the Abidjan data center establishes a strong foothold in West Africa, a crucial area for the company’s continued growth. He emphasized that Abidjan offers an ideal environment for organizations to house their mission-critical infrastructure within a highly reliable and secure facility, thereby contributing significantly to Côte d’Ivoire’s digital advancement and reinforcing its status as a regional hub.
Situated approximately 30 kilometers from downtown Abidjan in the Village of Innovation and Technology (VITIB), Raxio CIV1 benefits from multiple power and fiber connection paths, complemented by cutting-edge redundant equipment that supports its Tier III certification. This 24/7 facility, positioned along key fiber routes, offers exceptional colocation services with excellent domestic and international connectivity, facilitated by six connectivity providers.
In addition to its primary functions, CIV1 will host the country’s Internet Exchange Point (CIVIX), enabling low-cost interconnection for local and international traffic within a carrier-neutral environment. As Raxio CIV1 caters to customers in Abidjan and the broader WAEMU region, it stands ready to meet the growing demands of digital transformation, data consumption, and connectivity in an ever-evolving technological landscape.
