Mobikey Truck and Bus East Africa is intensifying its efforts to capture a larger share of the region’s commercial vehicles market, driven by the fast-growing economies and high demand for transportation solutions. As the official distributor of MAN trucks and buses in Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya, Mobikey is targeting the public transport, construction, and mining sectors with its expanded offerings.
At a recent event in Nairobi, Mobikey showcased its new MAN Long-Distance Coach 6×2 and 4×2 variants, emphasizing the company’s ambition to gain a significant foothold in the competitive market. Ricardo Teixeira, CEO of Mobikey East Africa, highlighted the MAN brand’s growing presence in the bus segment, where it competes with major players like Mercedes-Benz, Nissan UD, Isuzu, and Scania.
Teixeira expressed enthusiasm for the new MAN Long-Distance Coach, which offers high performance, low running costs, and fuel efficiency. He emphasized the company’s commitment to transforming public transportation in the region by providing safe, comfortable, and reliable buses, while also enhancing profitability for operators.
Mobikey has partnered with financial institutions such as SBM Bank Kenya to offer asset-financing solutions, enabling bus operators to access up to 100% financing for new MAN buses. This collaboration supports Mobikey’s strategy to drive sales and expand its market presence.
According to data from the Kenya Motor Industry Association (KMI), Mobikey Truck and Bus sold 36 units year-to-date, positioning itself as one of the 11 key dealers in new vehicles in Kenya. Teixeira envisions Mobikey becoming a major player in the region within the next five years, backed by a strong portfolio of high-quality products.
SBM Bank Kenya’s representative noted that the partnership with Mobikey aligns with the country’s push for accelerated economic growth through investment in key sectors. With over six years in the East African market and a broad portfolio including MAN trucks, Hyundai construction equipment, and more, Mobikey is part of the JAP Group, a prominent player in the automotive and mobility sector across Africa.
