Hassan Jaber Appointed CEO of AXIAN Telecom

AXIAN, a leading pan-African telecommunications firm, has appointed Hassan Jaber as its new CEO, effective August 19, 2024. Jaber takes over from Stéphane Oudin, who will transition to an advisory role, supporting both the chairman and the board of AXIAN Telecom’s operating companies. Oudin will continue to contribute to the growth and governance of the Group and its units.

With nearly three decades of experience in the telecom and digital sectors, Jaber brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. He will be responsible for steering AXIAN Telecom’s strategic direction, cultivating a culture of excellence, and delivering value to customers and stakeholders. His leadership is expected to drive significant advancements and performance across the company’s diverse markets.

Stéphane Oudin expressed confidence in Jaber’s ability to lead AXIAN Telecom into its next transformative phase, highlighting Jaber’s proven track record in innovation and operational excellence. Oudin also extended his gratitude to the AXIAN Telecom teams for their support and dedication over the past seven years.

Jaber, previously COO of MTN Nigeria, has held several executive positions across MTN Group’s regional operations, including CEO roles in Guinea, Sudan, and Afghanistan. His extensive background and education, including an EMBA from HEC Paris and international executive program at INSEAD Paris, underscore his readiness for this new challenge.

Hassanein Hiridjee, Chairman of the AXIAN Telecom board, expressed strong confidence in Jaber’s leadership. He believes Jaber will guide the company to new milestones, advancing digital and financial inclusion across Africa while navigating market and technological changes adeptly.
