MTN Rwanda Reports Major Gains in 4G Expansion

MTN Rwanda celebrates a significant milestone, achieving 84.5% 4G population coverage just under a year after obtaining its 4G license in July 2023. Mapula Bodibe, CEO of MTN Rwanda, announced this achievement at the 2024 Annual General Meeting, highlighting the substantial impact on digital access and internet quality throughout the country.

Bodibe emphasized MTN Rwanda’s commitment to expanding connectivity further through strategic alliances and alignment with the government’s digital services policy. This approach aims to enhance accessibility and ensure widespread internet access for all Rwandans, contributing to socio-economic development.

Faustin Mbundu, Chairperson of the MTN Rwanda Board of Directors, reflected on the company’s resilience amid economic challenges and its strong performance outlined in the 2023 Integrated Report. The report underscores MTN Rwanda’s community impact and strategic initiatives that drive economic growth and digital innovation.

Looking ahead, Mbundu reiterated MTN Rwanda’s Ambition 2025 strategy, focusing on building robust digital platforms and leading technological advancements in Rwanda. This strategy aims to solidify MTN Rwanda’s position as the leading telecommunications operator in the region, enhancing services and solutions for both individual and business customers.

With an estimated 7 million users and a commanding 62% market share as of July 2023, MTN Rwanda continues to play a pivotal role in advancing Rwanda’s digital landscape. The company’s dedication to expanding 4G coverage and improving service quality underscores its commitment to meeting the evolving needs of Rwandan consumers and businesses.
