Raxio Data Centres proudly announces the opening of Raxio Mozambique, the nation’s inaugural Tier III Uptime Certified data centre. Known as Raxio MZ1, this cutting-edge facility is poised to bolster Mozambique’s burgeoning digital economy and accelerate the government’s digital transformation initiatives. It marks a pivotal milestone in Raxio’s mission to construct a pan-African digital backbone, underlining their commitment to advancing connectivity across the continent.
“We are thrilled to unveil Mozambique’s premier Tier III, hyper-scale ready data centre,” exclaimed Robert Mullins, CEO of Raxio Group. “Raxio MZ1 will serve as a vital cornerstone in propelling the country’s digital growth, facilitating widespread adoption of digital tools and services across various sectors.”
Situated within Beluluane Industrial Park (MozParks) on the outskirts of Maputo, Raxio MZ1 offers both primary and disaster recovery services. With eight top telecom operators and connectivity providers already onboard, the facility promises unparalleled connectivity and digital exchange capabilities. This achievement underscores Raxio’s dedication to delivering world-class infrastructure tailored to Mozambique’s evolving business landscape.
Located near three subsea cable landings, including the recent 2Africa cable, Raxio MZ1 benefits from excellent international connectivity. Its strategic position on the East African coast of the Indian Ocean provides an ideal redundant route for the broader Southern African market, enhancing regional connectivity and fostering economic growth.
Embracing Mozambique’s commitment to renewable energy, Raxio MZ1 will derive a significant portion of its power from renewable sources. With over 80% of Mozambique’s electricity generated from renewables, Raxio’s sustainability efforts align with the nation’s green agenda, ensuring a sustainable and environmentally conscious operating environment.
“Mozambique is poised to reap the benefits of having its own world-class data centre,” remarked Emidio Amadebai, Raxio’s General Manager in Mozambique. “Raxio MZ1’s strategic location positions it as a hub for local and regional customers, driving innovation and fostering economic development in the digital era.”
