Airtel Kenya slashes cross-network call rates per regulatory directive! Effective March 1, 2024, rates drop from Sh0.58/min to Sh0.41/min, benefiting consumers following the review of Mobile Termination Rates by the Communications Authority of Kenya.

Managing Director Ashish Malhotra expresses optimism for future rate reductions, aiming to boost sector competitiveness. The move reflects a commitment to fostering affordable communication, endorsed by CA’s statutory mandate under the Kenya Information and Communications Act.

Despite protests from Safaricom, MTRs and FTRs apply from March 2024 for two years, exclusively to local voice tariffs within Kenya. Airtel welcomes the reduction, announcing price cuts in weekly and monthly voice bundles, in alignment with its commitment to enhancing communication accessibility.

With over 300 new sites deployed since December 2023, Airtel Kenya expands its network, now totaling over 3700 sites nationwide. Marketing Director Prisca Murigu notes package revisions to accommodate the rate adjustment, ensuring continued value for customers.
