M-PESA Ethiopia has concluded a three-day CODE! Cashless Communities Hackathon Bootcamp in collaboration with Yenetta Code, bringing together more than 100 young developers to build skills in digital payments and financial technology.

The bootcamp featured hands-on workshops, live coding sessions and practical API integration challenges using the M-PESA Developer Portal. The sessions focused on equipping participants with technical skills to develop digital payment solutions.

The programme forms part of preparations for the main CODE! Cashless Communities Hackathon scheduled for mid-October 2026. Submitted project ideas will be evaluated, with 20 teams set to advance to the semifinals.

Five teams will then progress to the final stage, where they will compete for the top prize. The first-place team will receive ETB200,000, while additional cash prizes will be awarded to the second- and third-place teams.

Through the initiative, M-PESA Ethiopia and Yenetta Code aim to encourage young developers to create innovative fintech solutions and contribute to the growth of digital payments in Ethiopia.
