Thunes, the global money movement infrastructure provider, has expanded its Direct Global Network across the Middle East with new payout services in six markets: Bahrain, Lebanon, Oman, South Yemen, Syria and the United Arab Emirates.

The expansion strengthens Thunes’ cross-border payment infrastructure in the region, enabling members of its Direct Global Network to process payouts to millions of bank accounts, mobile wallets and cash pickup locations in local currencies.

Members can access the new payout capabilities through direct API integration with Thunes or by using existing SWIFT connectivity, providing greater flexibility for businesses moving money across borders.

The regional rollout builds on Thunes’ expansion of real-time payments across Saudi Arabia in September 2025 and is designed to address different economic and financial needs across the Middle East.

Supporting digital economies

In Bahrain, Thunes is introducing direct bank payouts in support of the country’s digital economy ambitions. The company is also expanding bank account payouts in Oman, supporting the country’s digital transformation objectives under Oman Vision 2040.

In the United Arab Emirates, one of the region’s major payments hubs, Thunes now supports bank account payouts for both consumers and enterprises. The expansion aligns with the country’s broader efforts to modernise national payment infrastructure.

Supporting remittance-dependent markets

The rollout also targets markets where remittances play an important role in household and economic resilience.

In Lebanon, Thunes is supporting mobile wallet payouts in a market that receives significant annual remittance flows.

In South Yemen, the company is enabling bank and cash pickup payouts, providing additional channels for receiving international remittances in a market where remittance flows account for a significant share of economic activity.

In Syria, Thunes is introducing cash pickup payouts to provide additional access to international funds as efforts continue to rebuild the country’s financial and banking infrastructure.

Chloé Mayenobe, Deputy CEO of Thunes, said the new payout capabilities are intended to support digital innovation, financial inclusion and greater participation in international commerce.

AI-driven treasury and compliance

The expansion also leverages Thunes’ SmartX Treasury System, which uses AI-driven forecasting and real-time liquidity management to support global money movement.

Payments are additionally supported by Thunes’ Fortress Compliance Platform, which operates across the company’s global network and is backed by more than 50 licences worldwide.

Together, these capabilities are designed to support secure, compliant and efficient cross-border transactions as Thunes continues expanding its global payment infrastructure.

The Middle East expansion strengthens Thunes’ Direct Global Network and provides businesses with additional channels for delivering funds to individuals and organisations across diverse markets.
