M-PESA Ethiopia has expanded its cardless ATM cash withdrawal service through a new partnership with Awash Bank, giving customers broader access to cash withdrawals without requiring a physical bank card.
Under the partnership, M-PESA customers can withdraw cash directly from supported Awash Bank ATMs using the M-PESA App. The service is designed to provide greater convenience and flexibility for customers who need access to their funds but may not have their physical ATM cards with them.
To use the service, customers can select the M-PESA section within the app, choose “Withdrawal” and then “Withdraw at ATM.” They can then authorise the transaction and complete the required authentication before collecting cash from a supported Awash Bank ATM.
M-PESA said transactions are processed in real time, allowing customers to access their funds quickly through the integrated digital service.
The addition of Awash Bank’s ATM network is expected to expand the availability of cardless cash withdrawals and strengthen interoperability between mobile money and banking services in Ethiopia.
The partnership also reflects the growing integration of mobile financial services with traditional banking infrastructure, providing customers with additional ways to access and manage their money through digital channels.
As mobile money adoption continues to grow, services such as cardless ATM withdrawals can help reduce reliance on physical cards while improving convenience and accessibility for users across Ethiopia.
