Zamtel has reaffirmed its commitment to youth innovation, STEM education and technology development in Zambia through its participation in the 2026 JETS and TETS Fair at the National Science Centre.
Held under the theme, “Promoting Innovation and Competence Development in STEM Education,” the fair has brought together about 400 young innovators from all 10 provinces to showcase technologies, projects and ideas focused on addressing national development challenges.
The event was officially launched by Guest of Honour Prof. Michelo Syakalima, who encouraged participating innovators to continue refining their solutions and use innovation to strengthen Zambia’s competitiveness.
Representing Zamtel Chief Executive Officer, Chief Technical Officer Mwiya Wamunyima reaffirmed the company’s commitment to empowering young people through technology and connectivity.
Wamunyima urged young Zambians to move beyond being consumers of digital solutions and take an active role in creating technologies that address real-world challenges.
Zamtel said its participation reflects its support for platforms that nurture young talent, strengthen STEM education and provide emerging innovators with opportunities to develop solutions that can contribute to Zambia’s future.
Hosted by the Ministry of Education and the Directorate of the National Science Centre, the 2026 edition has been described as the most attended JETS and TETS Fair to date.
The event highlights the growing role of young innovators in Zambia’s technology ecosystem and the importance of partnerships that provide them with the skills, connectivity and platforms needed to turn ideas into practical solutions.
