The Mojaloop Foundation has announced the appointment of Jean Bosco Lyacu as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective June 1st, 2026. He will succeed Paula Hunter, who is set to retire and will transition out of her Executive Director role during a structured leadership handover period.

Based in Kigali, Rwanda, Jean Bosco brings over 15 years of experience in inclusive financial systems, digital finance, and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). His work has consistently focused on advancing financial inclusion and supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in markets where access to financial services remains limited.

In his new role, he will focus on strengthening the long-term sustainability of the Mojaloop Foundation, securing additional funding, and expanding the deployment of inclusive, real-time payment systems across its global footprint. The foundation continues to work with governments, central banks, and ecosystem partners to enable interoperable financial infrastructure.

Jean Bosco highlighted the importance of inclusive finance, emphasizing Mojaloop’s role in demonstrating how open and interoperable systems can transform economies and improve livelihoods. He expressed commitment to scaling partnerships globally to expand access to inclusive digital financial services while ensuring the organization’s long-term resilience.

The appointment has been welcomed by the Foundation’s leadership, with the Chairperson noting Jean Bosco’s strong regional insight and deep expertise in Digital Public Infrastructure. Currently serving as CEO of Access to Finance Rwanda (AFR) and holding leadership roles across African financial inclusion networks, his experience is expected to further accelerate Mojaloop’s mission of advancing inclusive digital payment systems worldwide.
