Smart Africa and e-Crime Bureau have signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support cybersecurity initiatives and strengthen Africa’s digital security ecosystem.

The partnership will focus on three key areas aimed at addressing cybersecurity capacity and coordination needs as the continent continues to expand its digital connectivity and services.

The first area will involve strengthening Africa’s cybersecurity workforce through skills development and promoting collaboration among stakeholders to build a more resilient cyber ecosystem.

The second area will focus on improving cybersecurity governance, risk management, monitoring and evaluation. The organisations will also support legal and policy harmonisation and coordinated cybersecurity operations across Africa.

The third area will involve developing, deploying and securing critical cybersecurity infrastructure and emerging technologies to protect the continent’s digital ecosystem.

Through the agreement, Smart Africa and e-Crime Bureau aim to support a more coordinated approach to cybersecurity, combining workforce development, stronger governance frameworks and secure digital infrastructure.

The three-year collaboration comes as African countries continue expanding digital services and connectivity, increasing the need for cybersecurity expertise, effective policies and coordinated responses to digital threats.
