Ghana has introduced revised DStv subscription packages following discussions between the government, MultiChoice and Canal+, as authorities seek to address consumer concerns about affordability and value for money.

The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations said Minister Samuel Nartey George played a key role in the engagements, advocating more affordable subscriptions and improved access to television content for Ghanaian households.

Under the latest agreement, DStv will offer four revised subscription packages priced between GH¢50 and GH¢570 per month, according to a statement from the ministry.

The changes respond to subscriber concerns about the cost of pay-TV services and the value offered by existing packages. The ministry said the discussions focused on dialogue, consumer protection and delivering better value for Ghanaian customers.

The agreement also includes measures aimed at addressing piracy and encouraging legitimate access to pay-TV services.

The ministry described the outcome as the result of sustained engagement with MultiChoice and Canal+, with the government seeking to balance consumer interests with the provision of television content through authorised platforms.

However, the announcement did not identify the four revised packages, provide individual prices or specify when the new rates will take effect.
