WSO2 has opened its first Africa-based office in Johannesburg, South Africa, marking a new phase of the company’s expansion across the continent.
The investment comes as governments, banks, telecommunications providers and retailers across Africa increase efforts to modernise legacy systems and strengthen digital infrastructure for artificial intelligence.
WSO2 said Africa has been one of its fastest-growing regions over the past two years, recording approximately 30% year-on-year revenue growth. Its customer base has expanded from around 40 to more than 65 organisations, with operations now spanning 25 countries across the continent.
Public-sector organisations including Uganda’s National Information Technology Authority, Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum & Mineral Resources, the Government of Malawi, the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Uganda Revenue Authority and Lesotho Revenue Services use WSO2 technology to deliver connected digital services.
The company plans to expand its presence into additional markets across East, West and North Africa while strengthening relationships with regional partners. WSO2’s open-source platform supports cloud, on-premises and hybrid deployments, aligning with growing interest in digital sovereignty and open standards.
The Johannesburg office opening also precedes WSO2Con Africa in Nairobi, where technology and business leaders will discuss digital modernisation, integration, digital sovereignty and agentic AI.
