The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has called for increased investment in connectivity, compute infrastructure and digital talent to accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation.
Inuwa made the call at the National Digital Connectivity Investment Forum convened by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), where he described connectivity as foundational infrastructure for productivity and inclusive economic growth.
He emphasised the need for an ecosystem approach built around three key pillars: connectivity, compute power and digital talent. According to Inuwa, strengthening these areas will support the growth of digital services across sectors including financial inclusion, e-health, ed-tech and agri-tech.
The NITDA Director-General also commended the NCC and telecommunications operators for zero-rating ed-tech services, which can help expand access to educational resources and digital learning opportunities.
He reaffirmed NITDA’s commitment to working with regulators and industry stakeholders to develop standards, guidelines and frameworks that support Nigeria’s digital transformation while strengthening the human capital needed for the emerging AI economy.
