Flutterwave has appointed Morounke O. as its new Global Chief Financial Officer, succeeding Mitesh Popat, who is stepping down from the role after two years to co-found telecom technology venture Next Communications.
Popat will remain connected to Flutterwave as a strategic adviser following his departure from the company’s day-to-day finance function. During his tenure, he played a role in strengthening the company’s financial foundation and supporting its broader financial strategy.
Morounke O. joins the global finance leadership role after serving as Flutterwave’s CFO for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, a position she took after joining the company in 2025. Before Flutterwave, she served as Group CFO at Access Holdings Plc and built more than two decades of experience across finance, strategy and banking.
At Flutterwave, Olufemi worked alongside Popat on the company’s financial strategy before taking responsibility for the wider global finance function. Her appointment comes as the fintech continues to manage its international operations and long-term financial priorities.
Popat joined Flutterwave in September 2024 after serving as Citi’s CFO for the Middle East and Africa, where he oversaw finance operations across 29 countries.
Flutterwave CEO Olugbenga Agboola said Popat contributed to strengthening the company’s financial foundation, while the company’s strategic priorities, capital discipline and long-term financial goals are expected to remain unchanged under Olufemi’s leadership.
The leadership transition places an experienced finance executive at the head of Flutterwave’s global financial operations while allowing Popat to continue supporting the company in an advisory capacity.
