Gabon has strengthened its national cybersecurity capabilities following the completion of a nine-month training programme focused on cyber threat detection, analysis and response.
The programme ran from January to September 2026 and was delivered by MITRE experts for participants from the Agence Nationale des Infrastructures Numériques et des Fréquences (ANINF) and other government institutions. Certificates of participation were presented on September 10, marking the completion of the programme.
The training focused on the MITRE ATT&CK framework and Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI), combining methodological instruction with practical workshops. Participants developed skills to assess attacker profiles, tactics and behaviours, identify traces left following system compromises and reconstruct the progression of cyberattacks.
The programme also strengthened participants’ understanding of the tactics, techniques and procedures used by attackers in IT environments. ANINF said the skills gained will support stronger capabilities for detecting, investigating and responding to cyber threats.
Certificates were presented by Alberto Mounguengui Moudoki, Managing Director of ANINF, and Denise Olsen, a cybersecurity expert and project manager at MITRE.
The initiative forms part of a broader cybersecurity partnership between Gabon and the United States, with technical support from MITRE. The programme is aimed at strengthening national cyber defence capabilities, improving digital sovereignty and supporting the protection of critical infrastructure.
ANINF said the training will also contribute to the development of national cybersecurity expertise as Gabon advances its wider digital transformation agenda.
The initiative highlights the growing importance of specialised cybersecurity skills as African governments expand digital infrastructure and work to protect increasingly connected public systems from sophisticated cyber threats.
