Uganda has taken another step towards strengthening its digital entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem after Smart Africa, in collaboration with the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, convened a national stakeholder validation workshop in Kampala.
The workshop brought together public institutions, regulators, academia, entrepreneurs, innovation hubs and ecosystem support organisations to review findings from Uganda’s Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation Country Assessment.
Discussions focused on reforms and support measures needed to help Ugandan startups and innovators build, test, scale and access markets more effectively.
Stakeholders identified priorities including advancing the Startup Bill, strengthening science, technology and innovation policies, improving access to regulatory sandboxes and using public procurement to create opportunities for local startups.
Smart Africa said the validation process is intended to turn identified ecosystem gaps into practical, country-owned measures that can support innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable startup growth.
The initiative is being implemented under the Africa-Europe Digital Innovation Bridge (AEDIB 2.0), which supports digital entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems across African countries through policy dialogue, stakeholder engagement and regional collaboration.Smart
