Morocco has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with critical digital infrastructure provider Vertiv to strengthen collaboration on the country’s next phase of digital infrastructure development, supporting ambitions around cloud computing, artificial intelligence and sovereign digital capabilities.
The agreement was signed in Rabat by Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni and Vertiv Africa Managing Director Wojtek Piorko, in the presence of Vertiv Regional Director for Northwest Africa, Zineb Kamri.
According to the Ministry, the partnership establishes a framework for cooperation across digital infrastructure, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing (HPC), data centres, and the power and cooling systems required to support next-generation digital technologies.
The collaboration aligns with Morocco’s Digital Morocco 2030 strategy, the AI Made in Morocco roadmap and the national Cloud 2025–2030 roadmap, supporting the country’s long-term vision of strengthening technological sovereignty and accelerating digital transformation.
One of the key priorities under the agreement is advancing discussions around the development of a proposed 50 MW sovereign data centre in Rabat. The facility is expected to enhance Morocco’s sovereign cloud capabilities while supporting AI, high-performance computing, cybersecurity and digital public services.
The MoU reflects Morocco’s continued investment in digital infrastructure as it positions itself as a regional technology and innovation hub, with sovereign cloud and AI infrastructure forming central pillars of its digital economy strategy.
