SMART Zambia’s e-Government Division has trained 146 public officers across three districts in Southern Province as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen digital skills and improve public service delivery through enhanced ICT capacity.

The training, delivered by the SMART Zambia Southern Provincial ICT Unit, brought together officers from the District Commissioner administrations of Gwembe, Mazabuka and Siavonga. A total of 40 officers were trained in Gwembe, 46 in Mazabuka and 60 in Siavonga.

Participants received practical training in digital literacy, cybersecurity, Microsoft Outlook and data protection to strengthen their ability to deliver secure, efficient and technology-enabled public services. The programme also covered e-government platforms, data management, cybersecurity awareness and professional email communication.

Speaking during the sessions, Principal ICT Officer Joyce Mushiko emphasized that digital competencies have become essential for effective public service delivery, encouraging officers to embrace technology as government services continue to evolve in an increasingly digital environment.

SMART Zambia said the initiative forms part of its broader mission to build digital capacity across government institutions and advance Zambia’s digital transformation agenda by equipping public servants with the skills needed to deliver smarter, faster and more secure public services.
