Stellantis South Africa has partnered with Social Coding South Africa to expand access to coding, robotics and digital skills education for learners and teachers in underserved communities.

The initiative forms part of Stellantis Philanthropy, the company’s global programme dedicated to education, youth development and creating opportunities through community-focused projects that deliver long-term social impact.

At the heart of the partnership is a mobile computer laboratory that will bring digital learning directly to schools and communities with limited access to technology. The mobile lab will provide Grade 8 and 9 learners with practical training in coding, robotics, artificial intelligence and Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies.

The programme also supports educators by providing teacher training that helps integrate digital tools into classroom learning, ensuring technology education continues long after the mobile lab has moved on.

Beyond classroom learning, selected young people will receive certification in digital and facilitation skills, with some participants gaining paid work experience to help deliver the programme as it expands. Learners will also have opportunities to compete in national and international robotics competitions, further strengthening their exposure to technology and innovation.

By developing local facilitators and equipping teachers with the necessary skills, the partnership aims to create sustainable digital capacity within communities while helping bridge South Africa’s digital skills gap.

The initiative reflects Stellantis’ continued commitment to empowering young people through education, technology and workforce development, creating pathways to future employment and participation in the digital economy.
