Ghana’s Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has assured employees of Ghana Digital Centres Ltd. (GDCL) that their jobs remain secure following the recent flooding incident that disrupted the company’s operations.

Speaking during a meeting with the GDCL Board, management and staff, the minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting both permanent and temporary employees, stressing that no layoffs will result from the flooding.

While offering reassurance on employment, George described the recovery period as an opportunity to reposition the organisation for long-term success. He encouraged staff to embrace a renewed culture of accountability and innovation, calling the recovery process “the reset of the reset” and emphasizing the need to move beyond business as usual.

The minister also pledged continued government support to strengthen GDCL’s governance, improve operational efficiency and ensure the organisation remains financially sustainable.

According to George, GDCL possesses the assets and potential required to become a profitable enterprise, adding that the government’s focus is not only on recovery but also on building a stronger, more resilient organisation capable of supporting Ghana’s growing digital economy.

The commitment reflects the government’s broader vision of strengthening key digital institutions while protecting jobs, promoting innovation and accelerating the country’s digital transformation agenda.
